We have not fallen off the edge of the planet, dissolved in the Washington rain, nor indeed were we buried under the mountain of snow that Washington got these past weeks.  Why has it been so long since we posted then, you ask.  Well, I could come up with a lot of long and detailed excuses, but there is ultimately one that explains it all.  I am lazy.  So, having said that, you will also understand that for the last few months I haven't been to good about even taking pictures.  But I feel very blessed that my neice had a photography project for school that she was working on, and so all of the beautiful photography that you will see in this post is hers.  Thank you Ashton.

Jack is getting so big!  And crazy.  As Liz introduced him at the park today- " his name is Jack and he likes Cars and apples.  And he can say both."  I think that pretty much sums up my boy for right now...

Jack HATED the snow.  Didn't want to look at it.  Didn't want to touch it and definitely did not want to play in it.  Everytime we tried to get him to play in the snow with us he looked at us as if we had lost our marbles.  He loves being outdoors, and doesn't mind puddle jumping or trudging through mud, but don't even try it with the snow!  So here he is being adorable... indoors...

I just love her big gloves!  Liz loved the snow!

Because the roads were too icy for Steve to go into work, he got to stay home and play for a couple of days.  He proved to be most skilled in the art of snowyaking.

Liz loved sledding and was completely fearless.  Instead of worrying that she was going down the hill backwards, and narrowly missed the tree and nearly went straight into the sticker bushes, she just screamed 'wahoo!' the entire way down... No injuries... at all... that girl is so lucky!

Proud of her great run down the hill...

Love this shot, can she get any cuter?  I also think it is funny that out here everyone has a pair of rainboots... EVERYONE... So when it was time to play in the snow, Liz pulled on her rainboots, which kept her feet very dry, but also froze them.  She came in from the snow crying every single time.

I think the thing I miss most from childhood is the magic that every new thing held.  Liz didn't care that the snow was cold, or that it would happen a million more times in her life.  She didn't worry that the power went out or that the roads were icy and had downed trees all over them.  This was simply the best impromptu holiday ever.  Which is something that I love about Washington.  Having grown up in Montana, lived in Rexburg and served a mission in Russia, I am a bit 'immune' to snow.  Been there, seen A LOT of that.  But here it isn't that common and it feels like a holiday.  School is cancelled, people call into work and everyone busts out the cocoa.  It just feels nice.

And so I leave you, but I do so with a great shot of my husband taking advantage of his day off.  My hands are cold just loooking at his!
